Frequently Asked Questions

If you have any questions after reading through our FAQ, feel free to contact us. We do our best to respond to inquiries within one business day.

Q: Which sign company should I use?

A: BuildASign is our clear favorite sign company.

Q: How will signage impact my business?

A: According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, "the number of signs at a particular site has a significant and positive impact on both the annual sales revenues and number of annual customer transactions."

Q: Which image format should I use for a photograph?

A: We recommend using a high quality JPG image for a photograph.

Q: Which image format should I use for a logo?

A: We recommend using an EPS file for a logo. However, if you can't use an EPS file, we recommend using a GIF or PNG file. Although sign companies accept other file formats for uploads, the above ones provide you with the best print quality.

Q: Where can I find high quality images online?

A: Most images online don't have the same quality you get from taking a photograph yourself. However, there are websites that offer high quality images you can purchase for a small price. We personally use Fotolia. Fotolia's medium and large image sizes are great to use for your signs.

Q: How do I create my sign with a graphics editor?

A: Open up a new image in your graphics editor, and resize it to make it proportional to the size of the sign you want. So if you want an 18" x 24" sign, resize your image in your graphics editor to a height of 1800 pixels and a width of 2400 pixels. Then, you're free to design your sign to your liking. When you upload the finished file, your sign will now print correctly. If you don't own a graphics editor, you can download Gimp for free. For all intents and purposes, Gimp is just as good as Photoshop.

Q: Which material should I use for my sign?

A: Our glossary page will help you decide which signage material is best for you. The page defines the available materials and what they’re primarily used for.

Q: Will my order look exactly like it does on my computer?

A: Regardless of the signage company you use, your order won't look exactly like it does on your computer. The layout and spelling will look the same, but the colors might look slightly different. This is due to the fact it's impossible to always match the colors displayed on your computer with the colors printed on your sign.

Q: How long will it take me to receive my order?

A: To estimate how long it will take to receive your order, add turnaround and shipping time together. Turnaround time is the time it takes to process and ship your order, and shipping time is the time it takes to deliver your order.
